eating out game in cape town

or is it the game of eating: Zebra, impala, warthog ribs, crocodile tails, eland, gemsbok and shark can all be found on menus of restaurants in and around Cape Town.

Shark lovers can lick their fingers at Khaya Nyama Restaurant in Long Street, where they serve "Mozambique brown shark", strangely enough caught in the waters around the Peninsula.

Warthog, gemsbok and eland are also on Khaya Nyama's menu.

Like shark fins? as part of your eating sea food experience in Cape Town? The Sea Palace at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, but should order it in advance. Zebra steak should visit Arnolds Restaurant in Kloof Street, Gardens (but read the comment of the owner first)

Impala: Mama Africa in Long Street recently added impala as a special to its menu, which already offers game like crocodile and kudu. (read the whole article by Arjan van Oosterhout on iol)

After many of these, I still recommend the Springbok steak in any restaurant, or ostrich (rare, medium rare max. although not after visiting an ostrich farm), venison (kudu) at Moja Restaurant in Heritage Square. Warthog is (only) best -if on the menu- in pastry at Beluga Restaurant in The Foundry in Cape Town.

Cape Town Pass Champagne Cruise in Waterfront

After a weekend in Philippi Township & braai's on Malmsbury farms, an evening on the ambassador commission programme in Legendary Kennedy's Cigar Bar on Longstreet, tonight a champagne cruise on the Sea Princess organised by

champagne cruise cape town waterfront
Cape Town Pass and the Waterfront Boat Company, promoting the great attractions included in the Cape Town Pass.

In Europe a city pass mostly includes museums and transport, yet in Cape Town it includes guided tours, surfing, sandboarding, township jazz dinners and malay bo-kaap lunches... We are enjoying the unbelief of people afterwards that those tours and cruises in Cape Town can be part of a Cape Town City Pass...

Investment trends in Cape Town

Released this morning in Cape Town on investments in 2004: Foreign Direct Investment in 2004 has increased to 1,536 Billion Rand, largely exceeding their targets, set for Ismail Dockrat, CEO of Wesgro.

Main investment growth sectors in Cape Town: manufacturing, resource based industries, services, expansion, facilitation and residential property investments. Target for Wesgro, the investerings promotion agency in Cape Town, for 2007: an impressive 5 Billion Rand.

It has been good to see the dynamics of development over the last five years in Cape Town, and it has been a pleasure to see that many of the anticipated developments in Cape Town and growth sectors have grown even faster than anticipated by me, who has been labelled 'optimistic' in the last years by some holiday residents. Let's say it has its advantages to have an interest in so many different industries, areas and social developments in Cape Town. It gives a little edge ;-)

game and game reserves cape town

South Africa wild life five years ago I thought: if Cape Town would have a game reserve, it is the absolute perfect destination in the world. Game reserves are within 90 minutes drive from Cape Town now. Still, there has always been plenty of different places to see south african wild life in the cape.

a large majority (/locals inc.) have no notion of nearby crocodiles, lion's, wildebees, ostriches that can be found in the nearbywinelands bonheur crocodile farm, the different ostrich farms around Cape Townlion's park near paarl and thecheetah outreach project of Spier are some of the examples within 35minutes from Strand street in Cape Town's Central Business District. Lunch?

leopard cubshave been spotted in the Cedarberg last week by planted infrared camera's by the way. They -fortunately- evaded me taking a shower outside deep in the Cedarberg when I was there for new year though.

Clubs Cape Town: Sundowner spots

Clubs in Cape Town: going out in Cape Town for sunset is not your normal corner pub experience. The Monaco of Africa at a first sunset glance: best sundowner spots Cape Town part I sunset cape town

caprice: see and be seen for the trendy (including sun glasses extreme) for the surfer of the beach, stylish but party savvy and the -I am so casual but I just spent 2 hours in front of the mirror- gorgeously created females: on victoria street (the boulevard) on camps bay. Holiday picture needed.

rafiki's on kloofnek, rafiki means friend in swahili and it defines Rafiki's, long time favorite forno nonsense relaxedthe large, reed covered balcony caters for the rastafari, the jeans and t-shirt and the bare feet beach go-ers, 20-40 'no frills' audience. They started the already legendary 'pile of prawns', only last week followed by a foot high mojito sundowner.

hemispshere:sundowner from behind glass: on the 31st floor in Cape Town. In long time history grape vine remembered to be Raffles, but that is said to have been two floors up. Cape Town at least has the high up metropolitan vibe, just came out of a weeks work but still look refreshed club with an magnificent view over the harbour, mountain, cape flats and hottentot holland mountains. 25-35 upmarket 'johannesburg' type audience (South Africans will understand) Tuesday to Friday two dedicated elevators are there for you in the ABSA building (designed to 'swing' 8 meters because of the howling south easter..)

On the beach Clifton 4 is a full moon favorite (or still Lion's Head, or Signall hill?): candels in a paperbag filled with sand and a chilled crisp 2004 Thelema Sauvignon. The best beaches in Cape Town provide that cosy atmosphere a table can never beat

insider tip: clifton 2nd: on a Monday fire dancers and drummers gather for an informal display.. Sunset and a chilled cobra are essential.
